A Devotional by Debbie DeRienzo
Welcome to my beauty cabinet. Here are my basics... just enough to keep the skin healthy =0)
As I look at the ooodles of stuff we buy to keep ourselves pretty or young I see that our confidence is being found in chemicals and things that make our outward appearance appealing. But what if we had our confidence in something/someone that really mattered... something of eternal value? Eventually our chemicals will not do the trick and we will be stuck with the natural aging process....but God says that He does not look at the outward appearance like man does but rather, He looks at the heart. We should have our confidence in GOD... in the one Who made us perfect the way we are. Now, that is not to say we should not take care of our skin and the body God blessed us with, but we should definitely not put our hopes in cosmetics. Our beauty (true beauty) comes from within. Doesn't matter if you are a teenage girl or a grown man, your confidence should be on God.. the one who made you PERFECT!!!
Help us to place our confidence in you not in the stuff that fills our medicine cabinets. Thank you that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank you that you love and delight in each of us. Help us to see what you see when we look in the mirror. You see the apple of your eye, your beloved child. You see us through Jesus and you see us as wonderful and perfect. Thank you Lord that you loved us first.
